Spending Time with God

I have been thinking about this a lot lately.  Do we spend enough time with God?  What does spending time with God entail?

These are questions we all need to ask ourselves, but the answers are going to be different for each of us.  There should be no, one size fits all, for how we spend time with God.

In my asking myself these questions, I am trying to find my way.  I do spend time with God, but I am feeling lately, that it is, not enough time.  So, there in lies, another question, how much time is enough time?

How much time do you spend with God?  Is it 15 minutes, 20 minutes or more, each day?

In the book I am reading, "Let Faith Change your Life" by Becky Tirabassi, she was talking about spending time with God, and she spends a hour each day.   She reads her Bible, prays and writes in her journal.

So, I prayed about this last night and have really thought about it today.  I am setting myself a goal, of spending 30 minutes with God each day.   I want to make time to do my Bible reading, pray, do some journeying and just be still, quiet and listen to God.

What are the benefits of spending time with God?  Well, the first thing that comes to my mind is, so I can get closer to Him.  In the book, "Let Faith Change your Life", Becky talks about why we should have our quiet time with God.  She says, "that her lack of enthusiasm about God and faith was because of her lack of time with God. The bottom line: faith had become an isolated compartment of my life rather than the center or hub of my existence."

So, are you going to join me in setting yourself a goal of spending time with God?  What are the things you want to do during your quiet time?  I would love to hear them.
